International Sound Directory (ISD)
The idea for the International Sound Directory ISD already came up in 2020. Thanks to a grant from the EU, the project could be developed and implemented in 2024. And since a few months, the ISD is online. As a comprehensive platform, the ISD shall make it easy to find the right partner, product or service for single projects, major undertakings or different kinds of collaboration. Whether you’re seeking sound and music related resources or offering services and products within these fields, the ISD should be the primary go-to destination. In short: Find and Get Found, Explore, Learn, Connect.
The ISD is supposed to also be an extensive source of knowledge and inspiration. Content to the magazine section, be it articles, news, studies, presentations, interviews etc. is continuously added. Innovative, smart and meaningful projects and case studies should inspire and encourage people to think out of the box.
There are already various platforms for audio and music production, including film music, game audio, voice acting, and libraries for production music or sound effects and so on. However, projects often demand expertise and resources from different fields and international contributors. New technologies and applications require new skills and expertise. Just think of immersive audio or generative AI. That’s where the ISD comes into play. The ISD shall cover the diverse areas and disciplines as much as possible and comprise at least the categories of our International Sound Awards.
And like the International Sound Awards, the ISD is to showcase the wide range of applications and potential of music and sound. Because unfortunately, the value of music and sound is often underestimated, despite their significant contributions to personal well-being, enhanced social and cultural interactions, and broader societal benefits.
