Tascam Hi-Res Editor Update
Tascam announces an updated version of its DSD/WAV editing software Hi-Res Editor for Windows and Mac. The software supports playback and export of DSD files without first converting them to PCM audio. Hi-Res Editor is available as a download and is said to be an ideal tool for users of the Tascam DA-3000SD stereo master recorder.
Mac computer users will appreciate the fact that this new version of the Tascam Hi-Res Editor is now compatible with genuine Apple processors (Apple Silicon). As all Mac computers are now built with Apple silicon chips, this upgrade is an important step to keep the Tascam Hi-Res Editor as a tool for modern production. In addition, the new version now supports notarisation. Notarisation is important for software distributed outside the Mac App Store, such as Tascam Hi-Res Editor, which is available on the official Tascam website. Notarisation ensures compliance with macOS security standards and meets certain Apple security guidelines - allowing the computer to recognise the software as safe. This also allows installation to proceed quickly and without security warnings.
The new version of the Tascam Hi-Res Editor adds two important new features. The first is mono-to-stereo conversion, which allows two mono files to be combined to create a stereo file. To achieve this, the two mono files must have the same audio format, sampling frequency and bit depth. Stereo-to-mono splitting is also now available. This allows users to split a stereo file into two separate mono files to easily create independent left and right channel audio.
Version 1.10 of the Tascam Hi-Res Editor is available for free download from the Tascam Europe website.
