Lake People G101

Lake People G101 side

Lake People presents the new entry-level HPA G101 – without compromises in terms of sound or quality. Lake People is famous for its excellent audio tools, especially headphone amplifiers. For many years, the G series has pleased the ears of both audio professionals and audiophiles. The G101 creates a new, even more attractive entry level to the Lake People product world. The compact amp contains the essence of high-quality headphone amplification “made in Germany”, underlining the particular strengths of Lake People: clever technology, outstanding sound, highest quality.

The Lake People HPA G101 is based on the G103, which itself can be traced all the way back to the G3 from 1994. The technology is accordingly well-developed: minimal noise, high power and voltage at the outputs, and great attenuation factor ensure impeccable sound. The robust amplifiers are practically indestructible and reliably play along in any professional environment, while the outstanding sound quality excites home audio enthusiasts. The solid aluminium housing protects the electronics from mechanical interference – making sure the Lake People G101 can do its job for a long time.

One special feature of the Lake People headphone amplifiers is the Pre-Gain circuitry, which also enhances the versatility of the G101. Different headphone types have different requirements regarding the amplification and interact differently with the circuit. Through Pre-Gain, the G101 can be tailored perfectly to the connected headphones. The amplification is modified by -6 dB, 0 dB, +6 dB or +12 dB before the actual volume control, so circuitry and potentiometer can work optimally. This also results in an ideal travel of the volume pot independent of the headphone’s sensitivity. The Lake People G101 allows every set of headphones to perform at its best.

Lake People G101 rear

The Lake People G101 packs its qualities into a particularly compact format. The black anodized aluminium housing measures only 108 x 125 x 41 mm. On the front, the volume knob for the long-lasting Alps potentiometer is next to a 6.3-mm and a 3.5-mm jack output, the power switch and the activity LED. On the back, the G101 features the RCA inputs, the USB-C power input and the switches for Pre-Gain. Like all Lake People products, the G101 is built by hand in the company’s own workshop in Germany – which clearly shows in the manufacturing quality.
