SCHOEPS KMIT
Schoeps, a company with expertise in microphone technology, announces the launch of the KMIT Shotgun Capsule, an exciting addition to the modular Colette series, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The KMIT represents the next evolution in Schoeps’ renowned shotgun microphone design, seamlessly integrating with the Colette series amplifiers while retaining the signature sound characteristics of the acclaimed CMIT series.
The KMIT is Schoeps’ first Colette capsule featuring an interference tube. It was developed to deliver the legendary acoustic performance of the CMIT shotgun microphones in a modular configuration. Its design ensures high directivity with minimal off-axis coloration, increasing directivity across all frequencies. As with the CMIT 5, MiniCMIT and SuperCMIT, the KMIT’s sound remains consistent across all compatible amplifiers, whether analog or digital. The KMIT offers the same high immunity to moisture as the CMIT series thanks to their 2021 hardware update.
Designed to be versatile, the KMIT capsule is compatible with all amplifiers in the Colette series, including the CMC 6, CMC 1 U/L, and the recently released CMD 42 digital amplifier. This allows users to select the best amplifier based on their practical needs, such as size, weight, and interface requirements. When used with the CMD 42, the free Schoeps Remote app unlocks advanced digital options for unparalleled flexibility.
“We are excited to offer the digital shotgun experience to the Colette series with the KMIT and CMD 42 combination,” says Helmut Wittek, co-CEO at Schoeps. “This addition gives sound professionals unprecedented control and flexibility with the renowned sound quality Schoeps is known for.”
The KMIT capsule carries forward Schoeps’ tradition of innovation. Built on the foundations of the highly successful CMIT 5, a shotgun microphone that has set the standard in film sound since its introduction in 2005, the KMIT capsule continues this legacy. Known affectionately as “the blue one” among industry professionals, the CMIT’s sound characteristics are now available in the modular Colette series.
The KMIT’s introduction marks a significant step forward for professionals seeking versatility without compromising sound quality. Whether for high-end film sound, music recordings, or broadcast applications, the KMIT Shotgun Capsule delivers transparent audio in any environment.
The KMIT Shotgun Capsule will be available worldwide starting September 2024.
