Liefde By Die Nam – part of the Liefde By Die Dam festivals that originated in South Africa – is a yearly event dedicated to Afrikaans music. Liefde By die Nam took place in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia on 21 September 2024, and event production specialists dB Audio Namibia brought the party to life by leveraging groundbreaking audio solutions supplied and supported by Stage Audio Works Namibia.

To meet the complex audio demands of the event, dB Audio chose the Yamaha DM7 console for FOH mixing, which marked the first deployment of this model in Namibia. With its compact yet powerful design, the DM7 proved a perfect fit for the festival’s outdoor setup. "The DM7 is a self-contained, powerful, and versatile solution that slots in well to our operations here in Namibia," agree local sound engineers Gerhardus Engelbrecht and Titus Augustinus.

This was further echoed by South African FOH Engineer Marinus Visser: "I was really impressed by the Yamaha DM7 mixing console, especially considering its small footprint. The workflow felt very flexible and the options with dynamics and effects were quite competitive compared to some of the much larger consoles I am used to working with. Working with dB Audio was an absolute pleasure - they made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. Their attention to detail and care for our production was refreshing."

The Yamaha DM7 offered precise control and sound fidelity across the festival grounds. The console combines intuitive design, compact form, and a powerful feature set, setting a new standard in performance across diverse audio environments. With Yamaha's "natural sound" legacy and a highly flexible, scalable configuration, the DM7 delivers unmatched reliability, which is essential when working on festival projects. “The console allowed us to cater to a range of event demands while maintaining the high quality that we’re known for,” furthers the sound team. dB Audio also supplied the trusted Yamaha CL5 for monitor control.

Another milestone for dB Audio Namibia was the deployment of the Sennheiser EW-DX EM 4 DANTE receiver systems at Liefde By Die Nam, another first of its kind in Namibia. Equipped with sophisticated features and flexible hardware options, the system is built to streamline live productions by evaluating the environment and applying equidistant channel spacing for efficient frequency deployment. The flagship Sennheiser EW-DX EM 4 DANTE four-channel digital rackmount receivers also delivered strong, consistent performance combined with the trusted Sennheiser sound of the capsules and transmitters. This allowed artists to perform free from interference or technical challenges.

Liefde By Die Nam’s main sound was powered by d&b audiotechnik V-series loudspeakers which offer exceptional directivity control, outstanding headroom, dynamic bandwidth, extraordinary power capacity, whilst being remarkably light weight. Optimised with d&b’s ArrayCalc and R1 tools, the system provided clear, balanced audio across the festival site, as systems engineer Adam Bandon-Kirby highlights: “The d&b ecosystem, which includes highly effective tools like ArrayCalc and R1, makes system implementation quick and effective, which is imperative when working on festival projects where timing is everything.”

For project manager Char-Ann Husselmann, the partnership with Stage Audio Works Namibia was pivotal to the event's success. “We want to deliver peace of mind for our clients. It is critically important for us to know that we employ professional and reliable, high-end systems with the right support on the ground,” she explained. “The swift, expert support provided by Stage Audio Works ensured that all audio equipment functioned seamlessly, enhancing the festival’s overall technical performance.”

Stage Audio Works’ strong local presence and technical expertise provided invaluable support to dB Audio Namibia, particularly with internationally recognised brands like Yamaha, Sennheiser and d&b audiotechnik. "Knowing that Stage Audio Works can provide us with qualified technical support on these systems here in Windhoek at short notice is very reassuring,” adds Husselmann. With the deployment of Namibia’s first Yamaha DM7 and Sennheiser EW-DX systems, dB Audio Namibia set a new benchmark for high-quality sound in the country. The collaboration between dB Audio and Stage Audio Works Namibia was key to bringing this event to life, showcasing a model for technical excellence in the region’s growing live event landscape.
