UNiKA PRO Stage Series
Direct boxes for everyday use
The UNiKA PRO Stage Series provides robust and reliable tools for professional touring, boasting outstanding signal quality and practical features.
DI boxes are among the most important tools in professional audio technology. The Stage Series models from UNiKA completely forego active electronics, focusing on the essential: the pure, unadulterated conversion of unbalanced signals into balanced ones, allowing for trouble-free transmission over long distances. The series comprises two-channel and single-channel direct boxes as well as a two-channel isolator. Robust full-metal housings and most of the controls and connectors recessed, UNiKA Stage Series devices are perfectly suited for many years of demanding stage applications. With their passive designs, these tools work without power supplies, while the signal path based on a high-quality transformer achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of almost 130 dB.
The direct boxes from the Stage Series by UNiKA PRO employ top-shelf transformers. Their puristic signal path preserves the signal’s integrity with its minimal number of components. A combo connector accepts inputs via jack or XLR plugs, and an additional jack output carries the unaltered input signal for passing it on to an amplifier, for example. The balanced connection to a mixing console or preamplifiers is made via XLR outputs on the back of the device. The single-channel SDI-1 and its two-channel counterpart SDI-2 are built identically. Both direct boxes also feature additional functionality crucial to practical applications. The input level can be attenuated by 20 or 40 dB to protect subsequent components of the signal chain from overload. The potent attenuation even allows the direct boxes to be used between amplifier and speakers. The ground lift switch on the back eliminates ground loops.
The UNiKA line isolator box ISO-2 affords a quick, easy and sonically neutral way to galvanically separate the signal path. As such, it offers an easy and professional solution to eliminating ground loops and hum noise between balanced devices such as submixers, amp racks, recorders and vintage gear. As with the two Stage Series direct boxes, the entirely passive signal path features a high-quality transformer, allowing for undisturbed operation without batteries, phantom power or power supply. The ISO-2 is also encased in a sturdy metal housing for maximum reliability in demanding stage settings. It provides two channels, with XLR and balanced TRS connectors for inputs. The outputs are realised as XLR. Both channels feature individual ground lift switches, channel two can also be reversed in its polarity to deal with phase problems.
