Tascam DR-10L Pro 2.0 Firmware Update
Tascam announces the version 2.0 firmware update for the company’s DR-10L Pro, an ultra-compact 32-bit float audio field recorder with lavalier microphone. Key to this update is the ability of the recorder to jam-sync to LTC (Linear Time Code). Jam Sync is the industry term for “jamming” timecode into a device using almost any timecode generator.
Tascam uses the microphone input of its recorders for synchronisation. For this reason, users first connect a timecode generator to all recorders before recording. Once synchronised, the timecode signal is disconnected and the microphones are connected. The recorders will then run freely with the accuracy of their built-in clock and record the timecode in the BWF audio file. If both DR-10L Pro and Tascam’s FR-AV2 are used in a recording setup, the FR-AV2 can serve as the timecode generator.
The addition of LTC Jam Sync to the recorder considerably simplifies the editing of video and audio files and helps to save valuable time during post-production. Users can obtain the firmware via an updater (for Windows and macOS), which is available for download from the Tascam Europe website below.
